Ukrainian's living locally marked Ukrainian Independence Day in an event organised by Newton Abbot Community Interest Company, and supported by Newton Abbot Town Council. The Ukrainian flag was raised on St Leonards Tower, and the Ukrainian National Anthem was played. Emily Farrell from Newton Abbot CIC commented that "we are happy to help our Ukrainian friends living in the Newton Abbot area mark this important anniversary in the Ukrainian calendar. We would like to extend our thanks to Newton Abbot Town Council for their help with the event".
