The Newton Abbot community is being invited to lend a helping hand as The Courtenay Centre and Newton Abbot CIC put out a call for volunteers to support their much-needed community services, including the popular Community Fridge.
The Community Fridge, located at The Courtenay Centre on Kingsteignton Road (TQ12 2QA), is open to all members of the community and is always accessible. Designed to reduce food waste and support local residents, the fridge provides free fresh produce and essential items for anyone who needs them. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own bags and only take what they need, helping to ensure there’s enough to go around.
Newton Abbot CIC welcomes donations of fresh fruit, vegetables, labelled tins, and bakery goods to keep the fridge stocked.

In addition to promoting the Community Fridge, The Courtenay Centre is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with several key projects. Volunteers are needed to help with:
Community fridge collections
Supporting the Community Café
Community Garden maintenance
Recycling and organising tasks
“We’re passionate about giving back and creating positive change,” says the team at The Courtenay Centre. “Volunteers play a vital role in helping us support the local community, and we’d love to hear from anyone who can spare a bit of time to make a difference.”
Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to speak with a member of staff at The Courtenay Centre or contact alex@newtonabbotcic.org.uk
for more details.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, meet new people, and help support essential community initiatives in Newton Abbot.
