Tree and Seed Giveaway event at Courtenay Centre

On Saturday 3rd February, 10am to 1pm, Newton Abbot Community Interest Company and the Restoring Stover Park team are hosting a ‘Tree and Seed event’ at The Courtenay Centre in Newton Abbot.



The event will offer a variety of activities for people of all ages, aimed at encouraging people to get involved in green activities. Local people will be able to take away free tree whips, provided by Devon Wildlife Trust, as well as seeds from the Newton Abbot Seed Library.

There will be an opportunity for attendees to find out about local gardening and green projects looking for volunteers to help with their projects. Organisations including Devon Wildlife Trust, the Newton Abbot Allotment Association, the Newton Abbot Community Shed and Action for Climate in Teignbridge will also be promoting their activities.

Emily Farrell from the CIC commented that “we are excited to be part of this event, which we hope will inspire local people to get involved a variety of gardening and outdoor projects that are taking place in their local neighbourhood. Please come along to find out more and collect your free tree to plant in your garden”.
Stover Country Park added “We are grateful for funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund and DCC for enabling the ‘Restoring Stover Park ‘ project to bring this free event to the local community, promoting volunteering opportunities with Stover Country Park and our partners including our micro-tree nursery project with Saving Devon’s Treescapes.

The event is taking place at The Courtenay Centre on Kingsteignton Road in Newton Abbot between 10.00am and 1.00pm. Entry is free although donations are welcome. The Courtenay Centre café will also be open offering hot and cold beverages and delicious cake.
